MINNIE MINOSO

There was no desperation to leave the island then
as there would be several years later;
I left in the spring to play ball in the States,
where I was considered colorful and flashy
(I was considered business-like at home),
and would return to play ball in the winter
until pro ball was banned there
I would play ball anywhere as long as they would let me:
in what were considered by some publicity stunts
I played a few games in the majors in my fifties
and a game in independent ball
in my sixties and in my seventies
