GLICKMAN

Boyhood dreams –
Could not be an athlete,
so why not hang around ‘em?
Be a part of records and thrilling games,
keep accurate statistics,
travel to different cities.
Thought it easy to prepare for such a career –
mute the black and white TV,
See how they do it, get a signature phrase,
but always keep in mind Marty Glickman,
But dreams turned into (diamond) dust,
when it became apparent
I could never become a sport broadcaster.
I had then, and have now, a lisp.
Step away from the batter’s box, young man.
You’re outta there!
