RAYMOND LENDING

(from an obituary in the Chicago Tribune)

Raymond Lending was an artist loved by all,
who drew about his favorite topic, baseball.
He worked for Allstate as an illustrator.
His work became recognized much later.
He was most famous for his baseball cards,
but other things he drew brought great regard.
He died in the hospital. He was hit by a car.
I never knew the man, but he didn’t live very far.
I hope that my obituary contains as much respect,
but you never really know how many people you affect.
But baseball illustration was what he was known for best,
and I hope he is at peace as his body is put to rest.
