Born and grew up in Toronto,
loved baseball as a kid.
although a real klutz,
always chosen last on a team.
Poster of Hank Greenberg on
my bedroom wall, an early idol.
Age 12 began selling refreshments
at Maple Leaf Stadium,
home of the triple A team,
saw many future major leaguers
including Jackie Robinson,
year ban on black players lifted.
Moved to New England in the 60’s,
changed allegiance to the Red Sox,
winter in Florida, spring training,
attended Toronto Blue Jays game,
old memories returned,
supporting Blue Jays in World Series,
baseball, wherever I’ve lived,
such an important part of my life.
