TWO BASEBALL SANDWICHES

John Allen Miller played three seasons in Japan,
where he, as a Dragon, devoured 79 pitches for
home runs. Before his short Asian stay, he played
for the Yankees in 1966 and the Dodgers in 1969.
With the Yanks, he hit a homer in his first at-bat.
With the Dodgers, he hit a dinger in his last plate
Appearance. Those were his only two MLB
Home runs. Sandwich Number 1.

Paul Allen Gillespie played for the Cubs during the
Second World War. This Allen also hit homers in
his first and final plate appearances, the only
other Major Leaguer to achieve that feat – – – but
he also hit four other homers during his three-
year pro career – – – so you could say that this
Sandwich had a bit more mustard than the first.
