My first memory of baseball was not the crack of a bat,
nor the crowd of splendid hats.
It wasn’t at a young naive age, but rather on a stage.
It wasn’t watching a man swinging a wooden board on TV,
but rather two men entertaining a crowd that roared.
In fact I haven’t seen baseball live, but I do hope it continues to thrive.
“Who’s on First” was heavily rehearsed.
Abbot and Costello, they were some loud fellows.
They told confusing stories but were extremely auditory.
These days miscommunication is everywhere,
the ball park, school, work and in the air.
The skit is in the Baseball Hall of Fame,
yet that was not their intended aim for this game.
A learning lesson the skit is, I must admit it.
For I would not have known the names without their funny games.
Nor laughed without their chaffs,
yes I love America’s sport because these two have made me snort.
