KENESAW’S REVENGE

Kenesaw Mountain Landis
commissioner of baseball
the man who banned the
Black Sox from baseball
forever in the 1920s next
heard about Jackie Mitchell
a seventeen year-old girl who
one afternoon while pitching
for the Chattanooga Lookouts
back in the 1930s struck out
Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig
It was too much for the Commish
to take so he made sure she
never played professional baseball
again by voiding her contract
and in 1952 baseball completed
striking out women by banning
them from pro ball altogether
