FENWAY LAMENT

Beer was a couple bucks
now it’s eight-fifty

Parking was a fiver
now it’s fifty

Peanuts were a quarter a bag
now they’re two dollars

And the seats – just two for bleachers
today twenty-five

Box seats used cost ten to twenty
forget that we can’t afford ‘em anymore

One hot dog is more
than a pack of eight at the grocery

You have to put up with “Sweet Caroline”
eighty-one times a year

No more going out for the team
Now they want to see Pedey or Papi

It’s just not the same
When you drive by now you want to look away
