and laurel wreaths of the nation,
the King of Diamonds sees in
his son’s eyes, a living legacy.
What is the Hall of Fame, if not
a repository of immortal records,
no longer warm; destined to fall
before the next set of champions?
Not so, for this father and son,
who would talk of small, important
things, while tossing a ball back and
forth, in a world of their own.
