his beloved Boston Red Sox
jeopardizes his relationship
with his girlfriend Drew Barrymore.
Why are we such crazy fans?
Man, social by nature, needs a
House of Worship, secular or religious
to demonstrate he is not alone
in an often alien and hostile world.
He needs to be connected to
something larger than himself,
to have a common goal which gives
a sense of community and purpose
at relatively little cost. If the team wins,
there is joy, but if it loses, nothing much
of consequence is lost – wait until next year.
A winning team confirms one stands
with the champions, chest swelling with pride.
So, go, Jimmy, go your Boston Red Sox.
