Other people have
religious tokens, car insignias
attached to their keys.
Some people have
political affiliations, initials,
or pictures of their grandchildren
inside of a small locket.
Not I – I wear my heart
on my key chain.
It is a medallion of
my favorite team, the New York Mets.
Ever since they came into existence
in the early 60s, I have been a loyal fan,
suffering through too many losing seasons
and enjoying only two World Series victories.
This year looks promising so far,
and I am holding my breath and
rubbing my Mets medallion for luck.
I don’t know if such actions will do any good,
but as I see it, it can’t hurt.
Now where did I put my keys?
