After a brutal winter
when the temperature
reached -6 below zero,
(without wind chill)
I greet the coming spring
training in Florida and Arizona
with absolute joy.
I am eager to see what
sparks have emanated
from the hot stove with
regard to my beloved team.
My questions abound:
Will the Triple A
hopefuls make the team?
Will the shortstop
who injured his hand
be OK for Opening Day?
Will the new ace of the staff
be worth the price of
highly touted prospects?
Who will play first?
Who will be the DH?
Let others mark
the beginning of spring
with flowers and green fields.
The crack of the bat
informs me it’s definitely time
to herald the new season.
Let the games begin!
