ADJUSTING BASEBALL

With all the changes planned
for the new baseball season,
like larger bases, a pitch clock
and no defensive positioning,
why stop there?
In the spirit of changing
the game around, I propose
the following to make it
more of a chess match,
a thinking man’s game.
One – permit bats of any size,
up to the batter’s discretion.
The bat needn’t be round
and could be as flat as a cricket bat.
Two – allow the pitchers to use
any weighted ball which
he announces to the umpire.
Of course, these changes have
no chance of implementation,
but just as well.
Please leave baseball alone.
It’s fine just the way it is.
