AWAKE IN WAKE FOREST

Have you ever heard of a coach who would drive
300 miles to help a player survive?
Well, you must not have heard of Tom Walter
Who had a heart that didn’t falter.
He drove from North Carolina to Atlanta
to give a kidney as if he were Santa
to a baseball player who showed potential
and now he is known as being influential.
It was 2011 when Tom Walter rode
to Atlanta to deserve this ode.
A kid needed a kidney transplant
And Tom didn’t know the word “can’t” –
The boy could’ve lost his life
But they both went under the knife
The kidney transplant was a success.
We don’t know what happened we’ll guess
But there are some stories with a happy ending.
Wake Forest is a place worth befriending.
How many of us would sacrifice for others
Even if it was a baseball lover?
