Writing about that trip now… In spring 2024
I traveled to Worcester, Massachusetts
A long car ride which was uneventful;
The miles then melted into metaphors and similes
Quite literally where baseball lovers and poets
Came together seamlessly
Like one big Welcome Wagon setup
sharing their twin passions
Joy filled Worcester, Massachusetts.
It was not a fantasy; you could look and listen
People were sharing simple freedoms to just
Be and express themselves
Reporters recorded the events;
Everyone was safe as if we had just escaped
the current political rhetoric
What a marvelous example for the country
we love ahead of November
Our very future at stake:
Would we come together as a nation?
The titled answer to that fateful question
could only be written by all of us
To reveal our future
To give us our answer in metaphors
and similes and facts!
