STAY FAIR, STAY FAIR

It’s the sixth game of the 1975
World Series

Eighth inning, Bernie Carbo
weakly fouls off a pitch

Then wonder of wonders whacks
a three-run homer to tie the game

The Red Sox and Reds battle to
the twelfth inning

Now Carlton Fisk is up and pulls
one down the left field line

Fisk waves at the ball to stay in play
waves stay fair, stay fair and it does

He jumps for joy like the ten-year-old
who went to sleep praying for a Red Sox win

He will wake up to victory with
the morning sun, a bowl of Wheaties
