ON TAKING HIS GIRLFRIEND TO A BALLGAME

On their third date, he wanted
to impress her with his generosity.
He brought her flowers and presented her with a box
containing two front row seats along the 1st base line.
She thought it would be jewelry.
“Have you ever seen a ball game?” he asked.
“On TV.”
“No, I mean live.”
“Nope.”
“You’ll love it, trust me.”
At the ballpark she commented on
the green of the grass, the blue of the sky.
“Oh, look at the 1st baseman, he’s cute,” she observed.
“He’s batting .223.”
“I like him anyway.”
She spent the game eating corn dogs, downing beers
and watching other people in the stands.
“Did you like the game?” he asked afterwards.
“It was fun,” she said.
He knew it was the start of a beautiful relationship.
